- Interaction with rural communities and their traditional leaders. Motivation of
communities to contribute to the building of educational facilities
- Re-arranging of priorities in the building of schools to focus on disadvantaged rural
areas and informal settlements
- Participated in the planning of modern colleges of education in KwaZulu-Natal
- Participated in the planning of skills centres in rural areas and townships
