Summary KWASIZABANTU
MINISTERS CONFERENCE Wednesday,
March 07, 2001 Mr
Claude van Graan The Power of a Holy Life Leader of Beth El Evangelical Bond. Theme
: The blue print of Jesus for His people Text: Hebr 10 the Lord says that in the scroll of the
book it is written about me 1
Petr.1:15 we read that we have to live a holy life. Man
has also started writing about the truth and has spread the lie. Who is right and who is
wrong. The wrong ones compare themselves to those who are right and say we are not
so bad. The
righteous compare themselves to the saints and say too much is too much. We
should compare what we do to the scriptures. In Gethsemany Christ wrestled with the blue
print of God for His life. On this depended the honour of God and the salvation of the
world. Because Christ surrendered himself to the will of God salvation came to the world.
Is the future of the nations in the hands of the politicians? I think it is in the hands
of the spirit filled preachers. With Gods help a spirit filled preacher can change
the course of things back to God. One friend of mine who leads a congregation, when his wife first addressed the woman's meeting on the dress code of the church, some ladies sat with their letters of resignation ready. At the church council meeting he announced that he would not tolerate drunkards. At the synod meeting when people were busy changing everything, making it more liberal, he stood up and shouted stop brothers, you might just as well close the church!. Last Sunday I asked him what things were like in the church. He answered that the church had been too small. This was one person who was willing to pay the price. While people are looking for excuses to sin we should be
looking for reason to live a holy life: 1) The
son of God prayed for our sanctification 2) He
suffered for our sanctification 3) He
was raised from the dead for our sanctification 4) He
is seated at Gods right hand to intercede for our sanctification 5) He
gave us His Holy Spirit for our sanctification. 6) He
Himself is our holiness. Through his life he set an example for us to follow. The
Spirit of God established the principle of holiness into our lives when we were born
again. The
church of God has already suffered enough from preachers who do not live a holy life. The
power of a holy life: 1) Will
spread light. Christs life was the only light the world knew. 2) It
will bring conviction eg. Peter after being filled with the Spirit preached people were
touched and asked what they must do. 3) A
holy life is a fruitful life e.g. Paul calling the Thessalonians to bear witness of his
holy life. God could testify to his inner holiness and man to his external holiness. The
reward of such a life is always the harvest of precious souls. 4) The
power of a holy life prepares you for the Lords coming. Your and my holiness is the
key to our fruitfulness. To
close: There
is a price involved. Gods will should be done. We live in a time where there is a
show of emotion but very little obedience. If we come to the cross he can cleanse us with
His blood and empower us to be such a preacher that will be fruitful for Him. The work of
a preacher is not just to protest against what is wrong but to show what it right. Did you
know that the best preparation for a sermon is not your notes but your life that has been
cleansed and filled with the Spirit of God. I trust that you would go to this conference
filled with the Spirit of God. |
