Dairy and Yogurt Buildings Click on thumbnails to see full picture Ever since Kwasizabantu Mission began in 1970 there has been the need for dairy cattle. The dairy project has evolved over the years into a automated milking parlour as well as a yogurt factory. The Friesland cattle give approximately 1400 litres of milk a day. About half is used for the mission and the other half is used to manufacture various dairy products such as Amasi (sour milk), dairy based fruit juice, and yogurt. These products, especially the yogurt, is sold (to recover expenses and bring cash back into the mission) in various centres throughout KwaZulu-Natal. Various retailers, as well as private hospitals and a luxury shipping company, buy the KSB yogurt on a weekly basis. (see Yoghurt to read more about the milk processing.) Orders can be placed at Tel: 032 - 4815555. |
