Plumbing and new steam system
We have recently extended the hot water system in order that other parts of the mission
would be served, and to save on electricity.
A hot water storage tank has now been completed at Cedar College of Education, as a central point to serve both the CCE,
the DSS girl's hostel and some
local houses.
The 2 boilers(which functions as one
boiler) can hold 8,000 litres of hot water. They are made of stainless steel. The Lord
made a way for us to obtain these very special boilers (which are usually very expensive)
for next to nothing.
A little heat-exchanger heats up the whole unit.
This system is linked to our central hot water system (see here)
which you can see in the distance on the following photo: . Also
in this photo, on the DSS hostel roof to the left, are 30 solar panels which heat up 4,600
of hot water. The new storage tank at CCE will assist in this whole system.
Near the dairy is a brand new steam system which is now fully operational since
the beginning of November. In the following picture one can see the boiler house and the
link to the dairy. The
steam-boiler itself has an automatic coal-feeder ("hopper"). It produces enough
steam (and hot water) for the whole dairy and processing sections.
It also produces the hot water
needed for the housing quarters in the area.
The new homogenizer and pasteurizer, with separator and batch pasteurizers, operate
with the steam produced by the new steam system.
