| "Lord, do you not care?" Rev Joseph Chauke
Mark 4:35-41

Here we see the importance of the Lord being in the life of a person.
The disciples put Jesus at the back of the ship. He was not put at the center or front
of their ship, controlling and steering it, and so too it is with many Christians today.
Jesus is just a spare-wheel to them. They don't think about Him until they get into
trouble.
When the terrorists bombarded the World Trade Center many people asked, "where was
God?" In our land too, when 6 men raped an infant, people asked the same question.
They should rather turn the question around and say, "Where did we put God?" For
God never forces Himself into a person's life, but waits on you to invite Him in and make
Him Lord and King of your life, country or nation. In 1951 - 52 America threw religious
education and Bible reading out of their schools. In our country, God is being thrown out
of everything in the government.
Some time back about 5000 doctors and scientists came together in Durban and South
Africa to solve the problem of AIDS. However, they also threw God out of their meeting,
and did not even commence with prayer. When I saw that, I knew it would be a total
failure, and so it was. 5000 of the most brilliant brains in world came together to solve
the problem of AIDS, just for a big 0. After they have put their solutions into practice,
the AIDS pandemic if spreading as never before. They have propelled it forward by their
brilliance! No, we need to put God first in whatever we do.
People say that AIDS is a disease. No, it starts with fornication and only becomes a
disease later on.
What is it like with you, young person, when the whirlwind and storm of temptation hits
you? Does this whirlwind put you on the street? Does it take you from the protection and
comfort of your home and put you on a street-corner, waiting for a girl, in the cold? This
whirlwind even takes an honorable young man to go and flirt with a woman in a shack. It
even goes into parliament that they steal the government's money and when they are
challenged about it, they blame it on Apartheid.
What you need in this time of the whirlwind of temptation, young person, is faith and
total trust in the Lord Jesus alone. He is called Wonderful, Counselor, the mighty God,
the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace. When He enters your life and is placed at the
steering, He brings peace and calmness to your life. He quietens the whirlwind of
temptation.
