Sunday 19 January 2003 - "Take stock of your life"

(Summary of sermon by Erlo Stegen)

Rev 1:19

Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;

If you suffer for the Lord Jesus and not for wrong-doing you will have a reward in heaven. John and many other people have been persecuted for their faith but even though Satan wants evil in your life, God uses it for the good.

On the isle of Patmos, John received a revelation from God about what he had seen, what is NOW and what will take place. He saw the Lord Jesus and fell down like one dead. How would we react if we met up with the Lord Jesus? John then wrote down what God told him? What has God said to us? Have you written it down and think of it every day. Has the Lord Jesus revealed Himself to you? Are you obedient to what He has told you? Maybe that is why your life is like that of a wild beast. Maybe you promised God something; that if He delivered you, you would do something for Him. Remember your calling, what you have seen and what the Lord has shown you. Record it in your heart and mind.

After the service, go and write down your present condition; that which is now. Is the first love there and burning? Can you write as John did. He was in the Spirit. How many souls have you lead to the Lord Jesus? If Christians lead one soul to Christ a year, every soul would be reached in thirty-three years time. Are you spiritually dead and barren. When all the nations have been preached to, then the Lord Jesus will come. What are you busy with? Your job, family or career? The main issue should be the most important; to win souls for Christ and help others to Christ.

After the service, go and rite down your present condition; that which is now. Is the first love there and burning? Can you write as John did? He was in the Spirit. How many souls have you lead to the Lord Jesus? If Christians lead one soul to Christ a year and teach that person to do the same, every soul on earth would be reached in thirty-three years' time. Are you spiritually dead and barren? When all the nations have been preached to, then the Lord Jesus will come. What are you busy with? Your job, family or career? The main issue should be the most important, namely to win souls for Christ and help others to Christ.
