Our faces reflect our Lord. You might not be beautiful or attractive
physically, but by beholding Jesus, being filled with His Spirit and living for Him
wholeheartedly, you are changed into His image and become a beautiful person.
Each one of us are changed into the image of the one we are serving, whether it be the
devil or God. What does your character look like? Does it resemble Jesus or Satan? Is your
life filled with lies, lusts, hatred, irritability and jealousy, or with the fruit of
God's Spirit, which is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
meekness and temperance (Gal 5)?
Moses' face shone with such brilliance when He met God that the children of Israel
could not even look steadfastly on him. Steven's face shone like that of an angel when the
Jews stoned him.
Years ago when we preached at Tugela Ferry, there was a white lady from Durban who was
so touched by the faces of the Zulu believers (seeing their joy and peace), that she came
and offered to buy a truck to bring more to the services. This she also did from her own
pocket.
A certain preacher in America, General Smith, once was invited to preach in Chicago,
but had flu and his voice was gone. After praying he decided to still go and preach,
although only in a whisper. After the meeting a young man came to him, deeply touched, and
wanted to give his life to the Lord. General Smith asked him what caused him to give his
life over to Jesus. His answer was that he could not hear a word of what was said, but by
beholding his face, he knew that he needed what General Smith had.
See that you serve God such that you are changed into His image and that His glory is
reflected even on your face. In Revelations He says that He will write His name into the
foreheads of His children.
