5 Oct 2003 - "Abundantly Satisfied"

(Summary of sermon by Rev Friedel Stegen) -...

Ps 36: 7 - 8 "How precious is your loyal love, O God!
The children of men finds shelter under your wings.
They are satisfied with food from your house,
and you allow them to drink from the rivers of your pleasures."

God makes His people abundantly satisfied with food from His house. It is in His house that the rivers of pleasure flow. In 2Cor 6:16 it says that we are the temple of God. Others should find the flowing river of life in us - His temple. We read in 1Kings 10 about the extravagant overflow in Solomon's house and how the Queen of Sheba marveled. In the same way people should marvel and be able to feast from the presence of God in our lives.

All the Queen of Sheba's questions were answered. Are we ready with answers which can satisfy those who come to question us?

All our attention, affection and desire must be upon Jesus who must be enthroned in His temple - in us. Let Him reign as God in our life, our families and churches.

Some Christians think they can exist alone, without the fellowship of believers. Yet, God's precious presence is found in the company of His children. That's where we must feel at home. It is in the fellowship of the saints that one can be blessed, enriched and strengthened.

We can drink from the rivers of His pleasures and our strength is renewed. I was told by a brother in the Lord about a bee which he observed as it seemed to be dying from lack of food. It had wilted and was on its last legs. He quickly made a mixture of sugar water. The bee seemed to lap it up and it revived visibly within minutes. He opened the window and out it flew as though it had never had a problem. So too, when we drink from His rivers of pleasure. And so, others should be able to drink from us.
