2Sam 22:2
The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer
(This sermon was a continuation and conclusion of the July
Youth Conference 2004)
The Lord has called us to Himself for protection and so that He
can use us to influence our generation.
A single person can influence their generation for good or bad.
Take the example of the 1960's where one woman influenced her generation for fashion and
sexual immorality.
Mary Quant, "the fashion queen of Britain's 1960's", and
the inventor of the miniskirt, made public boastings of how she intends the clothes she
designs to seduce men. This fashion designer declared that her creation was for the
purpose of making sex (illicit sex) more available. In an interview she was asked what
kind of person today's woman wants to be, and she answered, "A sexual creature. She
displays her sexuality instead of this coy business of hiding it. Today she dresses to
say, 'I am sexy. I like men. I enjoy life.'" Then she made this bold statement:
"Miniclothes are symbolic of those girls who want to seduce a man." (more here)
God said that if a man looks lustfully at a women, he is judged as
having already done the deed.
Let us be open before God in every area of our lives, even with
our clothing, and seek His face how He wants us to dress.
We as Christians, who have God as our fortress, must be a greater
influence than the fashion designers of the world.
