JUST HOW DO WE STOP BEING IN THE SEAT OF SINNERS?

“The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers plot together, against Jehovah and against His anointed, saying, Let us break their bands in two and cast away their cords from us, But his delight is only in the Law of Jehovah; and in His Law he meditates day and night”, Psa 2:2,3;1:2

There is a kind of life Jesus grants us from our very roots on, over-flooding the outside, our cup running over, where there, at first, had been a kind of killing enmity against God and goodness. This is the kind of miracle Christ does unto us from deep inside.

We know how Christ told us not to resist evil, never to run away from bad moments, but rather to grant the other cheek to be slammed against. So, we know that, not to “walk in the counsel of the ungodly, and not to stand in the way of sinners, and not to sit in the seat of the scornful”, is something more than ducking away from their evil – it is rather their evil marching against us, because of the change Christ made to overflow from out of us – if there are no hindrances to be seen.

When sinners are not put before the light of God, their genuine state of heart is slack to rise out of itself, for enmity against God happens to be dormant and hibernating peacefully. Man is a sleepy wild bear from the inside, fully fed, sleeping with no enmity around to disturb his real mood. If God’s light does not appear to stir up his sleeping mood, it looks like a pet, and everybody turns to love it so.

But as soon as God reveals and manifests Himself, if man is never changed, there is but a clash between all that is within man, suddenly raised from sleepiness and the real personality and love of God. These kinds of beings being so different and opposed from nature on and out, there is no way to have a certain kind of confrontation skipped between real, antagonic, flowing-out kinds of life which will necessarily clash and meet – darkness and light have just met, water and fire and one is the enemy of the other.

We come to read that “Why do the nations rage, and the peoples meditate on a vain thing? (2) The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers plot together, against Jehovah and against His anointed, saying, Let us break their bands in two and cast away their cords from us”, Psa 2:1-3. So, there is a consequent breaking away from God once His anointed appears in a real manner – characters rise, emotions are stirred and they are so far apart from each other, since creation has separated darkness from light, that there is no way to commune among themselves if they are real, at all. Love is love, and hatred happens to be a way of liquid life which lives peacefully among its own alone. To have peace return to that arena, one of them has to die: either love, or enmity.

So, there is an easy way to stay away from the seat of the scornful and sinning enemies of God: to have “But his delight only in the Law of the Lord; and in His Law meditate day and night.  (3)  And such shall be like a tree planted by the rivulets of water that brings forth its fruit in its seasons, and its leaf shall not wither, and all which he does shall be blessed. (4) The wicked are not so, but are like chaff which the wind drives away.  (5) Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous”, Psa 1:2-5. The wicked will be the ones to break away from us if Life is but overflowing from us in the promised proportion. We read that “Therefore, the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous” and will say “Let us break their bands in two and cast away their cords from us. Psa 2:3.

Just be yourself, love not sin in any way and the devil will flee from you. “The wicked are like the troubled sea, which cannot rest, and its waters cast up mire and dirt”, Is. 57:20. Because they are so, by having your walk steady and unfeigned, close to God Himself also, the seat of the scornful will just move away and break its bands from you by itself, being from its place and your way will soon be clear if your endure the challenge. “Darkness has give way to light”. This happens to be the best way of never again being together with sinners: if they move away themselves because you love them. Even at home, “A man's foes shall be those of his own household”, Mat 10:36. Fear not, “For the Lord knows the way of the righteous; but the way of the ungodly shall perish”, Psa 1:6.
