Foot and Mouth Disease (to see a short video, produced by SABC News, click here) The recent outbreak of `Foot and
Mouth' disease has directly affected Kwasizabantu because of the mission's location in
KwaZulu-Natal. Although the recently proclaimed `Red Area' lies just outside Kwasizabantu
it means that all movement from and into the `Red Area' (quarantine zone) must be very
strictly protected. Thus, the R74 route (see map), is one of the
borders of the `Red Zone' and every entry and exit has to be carefully watched. At the
entrance of Kwasizabantu one of the Department of Agriculture teams is spraying cars and
feet (people must put the soles of their shoes onto a specially disinfected mat) in order
that the `Foot and Mouth' disease doesn't go any further. VISITORS ARE STILL WELCOME TO VISIT THE MISSION! More info... |
