Outreach to local schools -
2008 - reaching between 2,500 and 4,000 children per day
for the few weeks and still continuing (5 March 2008)

Every year Kwasizabantu co-workers make a special effort to reach
out to surrounding schools. There are at least a 100,000 children in a 30 km radius and,
going a little further, towards Greytown and Stanger, there a thousands more. Each
morning, for the past 2 weeks and possibly for another 2 or 3 weeks, co-workers go out in
small teams to the assemblies of the local schools. The principals and teachers are only
too happy to have a group sing, pray and bring a short message. The conditions in these
schools are very poor. Today, 20 February 2008, one of the teams preached at a high school
where all the windows had been broken by hooligans. There are virtually no books,
libraries or normal resources that are available at the average city school.
Keep in mind that most of these children are from disfunctional
families. Aids has wrecked havoc in their communities and homes have no parents or adults
to look after the children. Kwasizabantu is helping to care for about 2000 Aids orphans.
The messages in song are loved by the children (the numbers vary
from 250 to 1300 per school) and they listen very attentively, to the short Gospel
messages. Very often, decisions are made to follow Christ at these meetings. Many ask for
counselling - pupils and teachers. Please pray for these outreaches.

schools are in rural areas like these

some schools have a hall for children to have assembly

most schools don't have halls and assemblies are held outside
