Outreach to Mozambique - 10
to 14 October 2008
(now with photos)
A team of 8 people travelled to Mozambique to assist Carlos (at
our Kwasizabantu mission) and evangelize in areas close by. Some co-workers and volunteers
joined forces from various areas to help on a 5 day outreach. Michael Ngubane, Bongani
Zondi and John Powys, were assisted by Alex (from the USA) and Josh (from Australia), as
well as two farmers who regularly help and provide the 4X4 transport (Pieter van Rensburg
and Japie Fouche). There was also a co-worker from Malelane, Lucas Ndimane.
One of the main purposes was to help Carlos Vilanculos (the
full-time coworker at the mission in Inhambane Province) with his vegetable project which
he uses to feed the many orphans he cares for and to generate funds. Mr Fouche and Mr van
Rensberg (both of them farmers) supplied him with a solar-powered water pump and gave him
further instruction on raising seedings.
There were services every evening which were very well attended
and with good responses to the altar calls. One of the services was at the premises of a
bottle-store. The film "Pilgrim's Progress" was shown against the wall of the
bottle-store. The enthusiastic crowds refused to leave afterwards, even though they were
asked to leave so that only those who wanted counselling would remain. It seems that the
Spirit was at work and not "spirits". The team requests prayer for these folk
that the seed of the Word would bring forth much fruit.
