| SAPS GIVE STRAIGHT TALK TO YOUTH The Chairperson for the South Africa Police Services in KwaZulu-Natal, Mr
Sibisi, gave a straight talk to the youth about criminality, drugs, abuse and murder of
policemen. Mr Sibisi had the attention of the 4000+ children as he shared, in Zulu, some
basic facts to help the youth. After his talk there was also a time for questions and many
teens came forward with frank questions.

The jist of his talk was that the SAPS is part of the community
and the only way that crime can be dealt with effectively is to work hand in hand with the
community. He referred to:
- the importance of reporting child abuse, such as sexual abuse by older men who pay the
family, which is too scared of losing their source of revenue, who are then reluctant to
report the continued abuse.
- Women and children (and men) need to be protected from violence and all forms of
violence should be reported to the police.
- illegal weapons must be reported.
- drugs, including alcohol, spoil lives and cause more violence.
- if police are involved in crime there is a toll-free number where people can report to:
