7 July 2002, evening service
Dumisani Makhoba preached from Gen 1:1 - 3; 26 & 1 Cor 3:16 - 20.
We read here how God said, "Let Us make man in Our image", as if a meeting
was called, and plans drawn up for the creation of man in God's image. After man was
created, and everything else, God called it very good.
However man sinned and defiled this image of God, by listening to Satan. Man became
corrupted through and through and could no longer have communion and fellowship with God,
unless he accepts God's free gift of restoration in Jesus.
Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit, and if we destroy our bodies through sin,
God will destroy us. Many destroy their bodies through immorality, hiding around dark
corners, thinking themselves clever, but the day will come when all their sin will be in
the open as they die of AIDS, and their foolishness will be exposed. One sin gives birth
to another, eg. stealing gives birth to lies, and immorality and drugs gives birth to
numerous other sins, which destroy young people.
Those that accept this free gift and cleanse themselves, walk with God and have
fellowship with Him. They find that they are kept from the things that destroy others.
When others come to a certain critical place in their lives, they fall and are destroyed,
but those that have put their trust in God, overcome and pass by safely.
Jesus said that if He makes a you free, you will be free indeed. He changes your life
as if you've never sinned. All the allurements and temptations of this world have no more
power or attraction for you. Yes, He gives you the power to say no to the cravings and
desires of the flesh. When you see others craving for sin, conquered, and destroyed, you
would thank God that you do not even desire those things, because of His new abundant life
He has given you.

Dan 9:20 - 24
Daniel was a ruler in the empire of Babylon, yet he prayed
and feared God. A country with such leaders that fear God and pray are truly blessed, but
those that are godless is a curse to a country, and lead it into the bush.
We read here how Daniel cried to God, confessing his sins
and the sins of his people. When last have you confessed your sins? If you don't know how
to pray, why don't you start right here, confessing your sins.
Jesus spilled His last drop of blood on this earth to
cleanse you from your sins, because God knew that without being cleansed you cannot enter
heaven.
As Daniel was confessing his sins and the sins of his
people, the angel Gabriel came to him to comfort him and show him the time when sin and
wickedness will be dealt with. He revealed to him the secret of Jesus the Messiah's
coming, paying the full sacrifice for sin at the time of the evening sacrifice.
This also happened about 535 years after the angel told him
this. Jesus was arrested the night before the day of Passover, interrogated, beaten and
mocked throughout that night, and crucified the next day on Golgotha at about 9:00 am
amongst other criminals. Golgotha was a quarry where they used to crucify criminals guilty
of murder, highway robbery and other serious crimes. On that day that place of death and
filthiness, outside of the camp (Jerusalem), became a fountain of life to all that
believe. While He hanged there, they reviled and mocked Him, saying, "You healed
others, heal yourself", and, "if you are the Son of God, save yourself".
Those that walked by reviled Him as well, shaking their heads, but through all this He was
quiet as a sheep before its shearers. He patiently took our guilt and shame on Himself,
and cried to God, "My God, my God, why have You forsaken Me?" This cup of our
sin separated Him from God, but He accepted it already in Gethsemany, when He said to His
Father, "Not My will, but Thine be done".
Christ's cross reconciles Black, White, Coloured, Indian,
etc., into one body, because He removed the veil of separation that all might receive the
forgiveness of sins. He fulfilled our salvation on the cross that our sins might come to
an end, just as He also cried, "It is finished".
