July Youth Week 2002
Tuesday, 9 July 2002
True Love Waits took the evening service and presented a play that stressed the
importance of abstinence before marriage.
A girl rejected the instructions of her parents to keep herself pure, because of the
attractions of the world and her friends. She got involved in a relationship, but shortly
afterwards her boy-friend passed away because of AIDS. To her horror she discovered that
she had contracted AIDS too.
Rev Friedel Stegen afterwards greatly encouraged the young people to make a firm
decision to keep themselves pure. A great number of young people made use of the
opportunity and signed TLW cards.

Preacher - Erlo Stegen
Text: Mt 27:45 - 50; Jn 19:30
Finished
Rev Stegen had two very valuable birds in the cage to illustrate the story of the
sadistic boy and the minister, told on 8 July. These birds are worth R 2200 each, or R
4400 as a pair.
But the soul of one person is worth more than all the wealth of Bill Gates or even the
whole world.
When Satan tempts you to sin, he clothes sin in beautiful robes, but when he's caught
you, he pluck your feathers one by one until he's finish with you. Jesus on the other
hand, when he saw you in your sin, had pity, and willingly laid down his life so you can
live. The Jehovah's witnesses deny the existence of hell, because of God's love, but God's
love is precisely the reason why there must be a hell. It is for those that spurn such
great love.
Jesus took your sin in its fullness, not accepting any relieve, that you might be
released from the jail of sin. When He completed the payment, He cried, "It is
finished", and even nature rejoiced because of His victory over eternal death.
As Jesus entered Jerusalem, He said that if the people should keep quiet to proclaim
the glory of God, the rocks will immediately cry out, and so it also happened. The rocks
rent, the veil was rent from the top to the bottom, and the earth shook and trembled.

Preacher - NK Sithole
Text: Jude 17 - 23
Many proclaim that they have the solution to success, but when you look at their life
it is evident that they have no success, yet many follow such people blindly.
Success can only be found in the Man amongst men - God. Many deny His existence, but
His existence is manifested in:
- nature (Rom 1:20; Ps 19:1)
- our conscience.
Apart from these, God revealed Himself by:
- Speaking to certain people (Gen 2:16)
- Through His prophets - Jer 1:7; Heb 1:1
- Through His Son, Jesus (Heb 1)
God revealed His character to us as well:
- God is Spirit (John 4:24)
- God is Light (1 John 1:5
- God is Love (1 John 4:16)
- God is a consuming fire (Heb 12:29)
If a young person take this to heart and make it his own, he will conquer sin and the
devil, but he who hardens his heart will have no excuse on the Judgement Day.
The Bible says that children are an heritage from the Lord, but today we see our youth
being destroyed through AIDS. Here in Jude we are told to snatch them out of the fire in
fear and compassion. Our Government obviously failed to save our youth, who is swept
together to the grave. The truth of the Gospel is hidden from the Government. They spend
millions on the prevention of AIDS, and fail miserably. We must put on spiritual gloves,
like in hospitals, and snatch our youth from death and sin.
In Jeremiah we read how women ought to intercede and pray. They must also bring up
their daughters in the fear of God and teach them to pray.
If those that hear God's truth keep it, a remnant of the youth will remain that will
not be touched by AIDS, and they will continue forward.
When a cat enters a room, all the mice flee instinctively, and look for the nearest
hole to hide. They know they cannot live together with a cat. So too, when Jesus enters a
heart, sin will seek the first and best hole to escape. Sin and Jesus cannot live together
in the same heart.
If someone proclaims to be a Christian, takes holy communion, give money to the church,
preach, sing in the choir, etc. but have sin in their lives, all his works are of no use.
He is living a lie.
When Jesus enters He controls your tongue, thoughts and deeds. Jesus wants your whole
life or nothing. He will not share your life with sin. A person who only gives Jesus a
part is not a true believer. |
