Youth
Week - July 2003
A certain pastor Benjamin Dube from South Africa preached the Gospel fearlessly, although he received many threats continuously. One day he dreamt that he is stabbed to death. He shared it with his family and they decided to simply continue as before. Not long after that he was driving with his family when they were stopped by 10 armed men. He was dragged out of the car and stabbed to death before his family. At home his son opened his Bible and his eyes fell on the words of Christ, "Forgive them, for they know not what they do". His family continued with his work. Seven of the men got only a 3-month prison sentence, as they did not commit the actual murder, but only helped to plan it. The other three got a much longer sentence. One day his wife, Grace, held a service and many came forward afterwards to give their lives to Christ. Among those that came forward to surrender to Christ, were one of those that helped to plan the murder of her husband, and she and many of the people recognised him. There was a hushed silence, and then she said, "Today you are my brother in Christ". Today we can gather freely without persecution in South Africa, but things can change overnight. May we be ready to stay true to Christ. Please click on the link for more on the film, "Stripes of the zebra". | |||||||
