Summary of talk by Dr Peet Botha on homosexuality.
Homosexuality is rife in South Africa. It is no longer something
practiced behind closed doors. There are several churches for homosexuals in South Africa,
even an all-black congregation in Johannesburg. There is a move to normalise it with
heterosexuality and bi-sexuality. Homosexuality and pornography go hand in hand, both are
sin in the eyes of the Lord and to be avoided. Children must be aware that they can be
lured by promiscuous and perverse adults into homosexuality.
Children are not born homosexual, therefore homosexuals can change
(Gen 1-3). People become homosexual because of
(1) being introduced or lured into homosex by older homosexuals,
(2) by seeing and reading pornography books and videos,
(3) because of home environment where parents are divorced or the
father is absent or treats the family without love and in a abusing manner or where the
mother treats the boy like a girl,
(4) or in the case where a child is sexually abused by older
members of the family or lastly
(5) through experimentation with sex or masturbation with friends
at school or after school at friends' homes.
God's Word reject homosexual conduct in no uncertain terms.
Homosex is an abomination to God (Lev. 18:22 & 20:13) and people that practice homosex
will, according to Scripture, not see God (Rom. 1:26-27 & 1Cor.6:9-10). They will
therefore go lost on judgment day. All homosexuals are therefore called to repentance; to
renounce homosexual conduct and be saved and changed by a most gracious God (Prov. 28:13).
