| Preparations for 5 - 12 July 2002 YOUTH WEEK
(photos from the most recent Youth Week in December 2001)
Huge preparations are underway for the thousands of children expected to arrive from
Thursday through to Sunday for the Kwasizabantu Youth Week which officially begins on
Friday 5 July and ends a week later on 12 July.
An important difference this time is that other Youth Conferences are being planned for
those children who live very far away. In the past, hundreds of youth have come from other
South African Provinces such as Empumalanga and the Eastern Cape (East London). If
everything goes according to plan special youth meetings will be held later this year in
these provinces.
FOOD
As you can imagine, massive amounts of food are necessary to feed 5 thousand or more
children and teenagers three times a day for seven days. Amasi about 50X25X4 litres, 3
tons rice and a ton of soya beans, 2 tons of beetroot, a ton of carrots and a ton of samp
(crushed maize), and 80x20kg of mielie meal, 30X25kg sugar, 8 head of cattle and about 400
chickens.
