| YOUTH WEEK - DECEMBER 2000
Saturday 9 December
Children have been arriving through the night and the influx is
likely to continue till tomorrow. Some of the children come from very far away. A small
group of 12 travelled 3 days from Botswana. Some are arriving from Mpumalanga Province
which is about 9 hours or more.
There was rain early this morning and by 9:45am it had begun clearing
up. However, the weather report predicts rain for another 3 days.
The morning service was conducted by Waldemar Engelbrecht who is the
director of the Kwasizabantu centre near Pretoria. He preached from John 3:1-9. Nobody can
enter the Kingdom of God unless he is transformed. Jesus had to teach Nicodemus the less
that he had to "be born again." Through the Holy Spirit everything is changed in
a person's life.
Alpheus Mdlalose then exhorted the young people to make use of the opportunity for it
is still the time of grace and "your case is not a hopeless one" for,
"there is a way" through Christ.
The afternoon service was a time for testimonies.
The evening service was taken by Erlo Stegen who spoke about the
young prophet who was deceived by the older prophet (1 Kings 13). He emphasised the
importance of staying on God's way till the end and not to allow others to sidetrack you.
