Day Seven - Youth Week 2000

9:30am
Despite the exodus of children starting back home, some needing to travel over 500km, there are still five thousand or more young people.

For the first time this week the weather has dropped some degrees in temperature (see photo). We thank God for the fantastic weather we have had all week.

Thank you for praying for these young people.

1:30pm
Before and during the morning meeting hundreds of children were packing the buses to leave back home.

The morning service, where Rev Stegen preached, continued with the theme of God's wisdom as seen in the Cross. Although it is foolishness to the perishing it is the power of God to those being saved. It will need all eternity to understand the greatness of the Cross. "There is nothing in all the world that can ever be compared to the importance of the Cross."
Rev Stegen's theme was "What held Jesus to the Cross?" Was it just the three nails which held him there? Reading from Luke 23: 33: "And when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the criminals one on the right hand and the other on the left." It was not the nails which held Jesus to the Cross but our sins. The bystanders mocked Him telling Christ that they would believe in Him if He came down from the Cross. But thank God, although He could have come down, He stayed there to carry our sins. Though the hands of Jesus created the whole universe and each person, His greatest work was allowing His hands to be pierced for our salvation. The Lord says in Is 49: 15 & 16:

"Can a woman forget her nursing child,
And not have compassion on the son of her womb?
Surely they may forget,
Yet I will not forget you.
See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands;"

Jesus inscribed us on the palms of His hands at Calvary - His crowning work!

An altar call was then given and more people came forward than throughout the past week. It was a moving sight to witness so many hundreds confessing and weeping as they came to those Hands.

9:35pm
The afternoon service was opened in prayer by Rev Mabizela who also directed the proceedings. After 2 choirs, the young people were invited to give short testimonies. Some mentioned how they had found Christ at previous Youth Weeks at Kwasizabantu and what the Lord had done for them in setting them free from various sins.

The final service of the Youth Week was about the parable of the sower. Rev Stegen read from Matt 13:1-23 and then preached on the 4 categories of soil. David, the Son of Jesse, was not as impressive in stature and importance as his brothers, but the Lord saw his heart and he was anointed by the prophet Samuel. God sees past your outward show right into your heart. Be careful of stones remaining in your good soil. Daily tend your soil by continual prayer and seeking of God and His Word. Deal constantly with the weeds and thorns which threaten to choke the good seed.
Hundreds gathered round the altar seeking the Lord for grace as they go home; that their hearts would be fertile soil.

This brings the daily reports to a close. Thank you to the many of you who checked this website every day and prayed for these precious young people. Please continue to intercede for them as they go home.
