The service in the hall at Edenkoben was full of people (with some standing against the walls) as Rev Erlo Stegen preached from Romans 1: 15 & 16 - "I am not ashamed of the Gospel."

 'Ich schäme mich des Evangeliums nicht'

1. Das Verlangen des Paulus

Luther übersetzt von der Neigung des Paulus das Ev. zu verbreiten. Das griech. Wort Protumos bedeutet noch  mehr -'Im Voraus Bereitschaft und ein Verlangen haben'. Paulus beschreibt so seinen Wunsch bei der Gemeinde in Rom zu sein. Rom bedeutete für Paulus auch Leiden zu ertragen, doch das hielt ihn nicht davon ab.

1. Kor. 9,16 + Hesekiel 3,16 + 17.

Wir müssen den Gottlosen warnen, damit sein Blut nicht von unseren Händen gefordert wird.

2. Ich schäme mich nicht.

Durch ein besonderes Erlebnis das ich als junger Mann hatte,  zeigte Gott mir, dass ich mich nie seines Evangeliums schämen darf.

3. Das Evangelium

Nichts ist so schön wie Gottes Wort. Selig ist der Mann, der das erkennt.

Die allmächtige Kraft Gottes wirkt im Evangelium um Seelen zu retten und Menschen zu ändern.

4. Prüfe Dich selbst

Zieht unser Leben Menschen zu Christus, und Leben wir ausschliesslich für Ihn ? Paulus wollte soviel in seiner Kraft steht der ganzen Welt das Evangelium bringen.

Großes kann geschehen wo  Gottes Kraft durch unser Leben wirkt.

English Summary

“I am not ashamed of the gospel” 

1. The Desire of Paul

In the English translation it says in Romans 1,15 “I am ready”, but the expression used in Greek has a much deeper meaning. The word Protumos   stands for “being prepard and having a yearning in advance”. This is how Paul expresses his desire for being with the congregation in Rome. He new that he had to go through tribulation and difficulties in Rome but this did not discourage him.

We have to warn the ungodly person so that God is not demanding his blood from our hands one day.

2. I am not ashamed

As a  young man I went through a certain experience where  God has shown to me, that I must never be ashamed of his gospel.

3. The gospel

Nothing in this world is as beautiful as the gospel. Blessed is the one who grasps it and to whom it is revealed. The almighty power of God is working through the gospel to save souls and to change the life of an individual.

4. Test yourself

Does our Life draw people closer to Christ and are we living only for Him in everything we do ? Paul was determined to preach the gospel throughout the whole world as much as it was in his power.

Great things can happen, where God's power is working through our Life.
