John 5:6
FOOD USED FOR YOUTH CONFERENCE
Here are the particulars:
1. The Youth donated 4 tons of rice & 300 pockets of potatoes.
2. A farmer gave 10 bags of dried beans & 40 x 35kg of sugar.
3. Another farmer donated 20 bags of dried beans.
4. A businessman brought 1 ton of samp.
5. From our farm we got 30 bags of mealie meal.
6. 700 chickens were slaughtered & frozen
7. 10 Oxen from our herd were slaughtered, the better part of the meat are being sold, so
the equivalent of 1000 kg was cut up for stew. The fat was cooked and we got 14 x 20
litre buckets full. This covered the best part of the fat needed for the cooking.
8. An average of 400 loaves of bread was used per day - baked by KSB Bakery.
9. KSB Dairy supplied 10 000 litres of Maas.
10. A congregation member from Mahlaba gathered melons for us (a whole bakkie full) and a
further 750kg of sugar was used to cook the jam. This was basically all used up.
11. A farmer from Brits donated a ton of onions & a few tons of Sweet potatoes.
12. From our garden we used the following vegetables: Cabbage, cauliflower,
carrots, peppers, chinese cabbage to make a fresh salad daily.
13. We used 300kg of soya mince.
To a certain extent we were prepared, but never expected to cook so much food. It
seemed as if the children came from poverty stricken homes & immensely enjoyed the 3
meals a day. We needed to buy an extra 3 tons of rice, half a ton of samp, 100
pockets of potatoes & fetched 20 bags of mealie meal.
In addition to the above, we still cooked for an additional 1000 + people, which we fed 3
meals a day.
We thank God for His abundant supply and blessing. |
