Rev 19:6-9
And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters
and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, "Alleluia! For the Lord God
Omnipotent reigns! 7Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the
Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready." 8And to her it was granted to be
arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the
saints.
9Then he said to me, "Write: "Blessed are those who are called to the marriage
supper of the Lamb!"' And he said to me, "These are the true sayings of
God."
The bride of Christ is contrasted to another woman, Mystery
Babylon, from Rev 17. This woman is not a bride, but a picture of someone who left the
Lord and are totally in the world. The Bridegroom will come for her too, but in wrath, to
destroy her. And when the people of the world see her judgment they will mourn and lament
her destruction.
We need to be very clear in our mind where we stand with God.
While this harlot is destroyed the heavenly hosts are called to rejoice at her
destruction, and the saints are called to the marriage of the Lamb.
This will be the culmination of human history. We see two things
taking place, the judgment of the wicked and the marriage of the lamb.
While God's judgment and law is against the woman of the world,
there is no law against the bride of Christ (Gal 5). Sin has been dealt with in the lives
of the bride of Christ. Day by day they live a life holy unto the Lord, whereas they of
the world live a life to fulfill the lusts of their flesh.
2Tim 2:19, "Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands,
having this seal, 'the Lord knows those who are His, and let all who name the Name of
Christ depart from iniquity.'"
God's foundation is firm and it cannot be moved. Jesus' holiness
is reflected in His bride.
As a bride walks down the isle to meet her husband, each one of us will have to meet our
heavenly Husband personally. You must keep your heavenly garment spotless and clean.
Although the culmination of the wedding will take place in heaven,
here on earth we can already be His bride, and be contrasted to the woman of the world. We
cannot continue in sin after we've committed ourselves to our Heavenly Bridegroom. We have
to resist the temptations of this world and our sinful nature. Our desires and commitment
must be to our Lord and King.
Rev 19 gives us the end of the matter. The hem of His garment will
be red with the blood of those who came to make war against the Lamb. Then the beast and
the false prophet will be thrown into the lake of fire, and those not found written in the
Book of Life.
But the Bride of Christ will not be cast into the lake of fire, but will be with Christ
forever.
All the saved throughout the ages will meet Christ on that day.
However, those who fail to prepare now will not be there.
We as the Bride of Christ must prepare ourselves for that day.
