What is it that you greatly long for?
If you long for the things of this earth, your life will be miserable, for they cannot
quench your thirst. We receive our true blessings and inheritance from heaven. The Word of
God is filled with riches.
When you read the Bible, you must know that you are in the
presence of God. It is not like reading a newspaper. God's Word is alive and powerful to
change lives and convict of sin. Jesus said that He did not come to judge the world, but
the very words that He spoke will judge the world. We will have to give account of every
idle word we've spoken.
A certain Muslim woman from Iran, who visited KwaSizabantu,
related how she became a Christian (read more here).
Exodus 25:8,9.
And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them. 9 According to all that
I show you, that is, the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furnishings,
just so you shall make it.
The Lord commanded Moses to build the tabernacle, and to pay
attention to the details to make it exactly as God had shown him. It was God's desire to
dwell among His people. Israel had to be a holy people.
Today, our body is the temple of God. We need to pay careful
attention to God's commands, so that we cleanse and sanctify this temple of God, as He
commanded. We Christians must be a holy people unto God.
In the early church, the devil tried to enter in through Ananias and Sapphirah. But they
died before Peter because of their lie. They lied to the Holy Spirit who was in Peter.
At a later point, some Greek women complained about being treated
unfairly with the distribution of the food. The apostles chose seven men to serve at the
tables and oversee the distribution. But these men had to be filled with the Holy Spirit,
and be full of wisdom. These were men of God whom they chose for a common task.
Here we see God's standard for His church.
Do you know God in this way? If God convicts you of sin, do not
put it off to another day, but deal with it today. Examine yourself before God today,
whether you are living in God's will for your life, paying careful attention to the
details God has shown you.
