Rom 13:11-14 - "11 And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. 13 Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts."

1) A person who is asleep doesn't know what is going on around him. So too those who are asleep spiritually. Salvation has come, but they are asleep and oblivious to the fact. They insist on following their own ambitions. Their life just revolves around themselves. They are dead in their sins.

But if the Lord has quickened you, your life should overflow. Spiritually you should live a supernatural, victorious life. God expects it from you and me.

In Hebrews 2, Jesus says that He isn't ashamed to call us His brethren. (We say it with utter respect and only because Jesus said it first). We are even called heirs to His Kingdom. As an heir you stand in line for an inheritance. Our life must be different if we truly comprehend this fact.

Woe to you if you don't wake up, do His will and live the life He expects from you.

2) "The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Let us cast off the works of darkness". What are these works of darkness?

Some things are mentioned here, e.g. to live in revelry and drunkenness, sexual immorality and lust. Such will not inherit the kingdom of God. However, these things come out of an evil heart, and therefore your heart (and thoughts) must be cleansed too.

Mr Khoza gave testimony of how God spoke to him and he confessed his sin and put his life in order.

Don't hang on to the works of darkness but cast them off.

3) "Put on the armor of light". Some people want to be Christians but always fail because they don't put on God's armor, e.g. they neglect prayer and Bible study.

When you wake up in the morning, pray and trust God for the day. Whatever you do, do it prayerfully, and feed on God's Word.

Live as is proper for a child of God. Don't have hidden things in your heart and life. If you would be ashamed if your thoughts and secret deeds were revealed to everyone today, then you're on your way to eternal damnation and must repent today.

Many people burn for politics, lust or pleasure, but God's holy fire should burn in your life every moment.

4) "Make no provision for the flesh to fulfill its lust".

Some men (and even women) go and buy pornography to fulfill the lusts of the flesh. The same applies for the TV, internet and videos which defile many. But those who are bought with the precious Blood of Jesus, shun those things which make provision for the flesh and its lusts.

May this day be the day where the Lord's Word is not in vain, and those who are dead in sin be made alive.
