Important info for those flying via Johannesburg (OT) to Durban

All luggage must be fetched at Johannesburg (OT) airport. Even if assurance is given that your luggage is booked "right through to" Durban it must be fetched at the "point of entry" which is always Johannesburg (and in some cases, Cape Town). After luggage has gone through customs at Johannesburg (OT) it must be collected again in Durban.

PORTERS: Please be careful not to be "taken for a ride" at Johannesburg (OT) airport by porters who are not official (dressed with an orange vest), or who ask more than the going fee, which is R5.00 (or whatever is recommended by the Airport Authorities).. Do not pay the equivalent in Euros or Dollars. Baggage trollies are free and it is reasonably easy to push your own luggage to the "Domestic Terminal" (or vice versa if flying out of the country). Anyone who offers to push your luggage (and who does not have an orange vest) is an illegal.
